What happened

MalwareTips reports in a post published October 21, 2026 that an Audius airdrop scam uses the lookalike site audius-eligibility[.]com to impersonate the music platform Audius. The page advertises a supposed retroactive $AUDIO token reward and presents external wallet options associated with Solana and EVM networks. MalwareTips says the lookalike was reported as a wallet-drainer lure, and stresses the warning concerns the impersonation, not Audius or its legitimate token programs, which are not involved. MalwareTips notes that it did not submit a transaction or verify a malicious contract and that a current capture attempt returned no usable page, so its image is an illustration. It advises checking any reward against official Audius announcements, questioning unrelated wallet-connection requests, and never giving out recovery words.

How the scam works

MalwareTips says airdrop lures like this rely on the idea that a real project might reward past users retroactively, which makes an eligibility checker seem plausible. The hyphenated domain adds the word 'eligibility' to the project name, so it can look like an official tool at a glance.

The page offers wallet options for several networks, which makes the connection request feel normal. MalwareTips explains that connecting a wallet can reveal a public address and let the site send further requests; a transaction, token approval or signature can then authorise another party to move assets. A genuine airdrop never needs a recovery phrase, and it should be announced on the project's official website and verified accounts. MalwareTips' image for this article is an illustration, not a capture of the live site.

Red flags

  • An 'eligibility' page on a domain that adds words to a project's name.
  • A retroactive token reward you weren't expecting.
  • Wallet-connection options for several networks on a claim page.
  • Any request for a recovery phrase or unexplained approvals.

If you were targeted

  1. 1Don't connect your wallet, sign, or approve anything on the page.
  2. 2Never type a recovery (seed) phrase or private key into a website or give it to 'support'.
  3. 3Check announcements only through the project's official website or accounts that you open yourself.
  4. 4If you connected and approved something, revoke the token approval with your wallet's or the network's approval tool and move remaining assets to a new wallet if you're unsure what you signed.
  5. 5If you disclosed a recovery phrase, treat the wallet as compromised and move assets to a new wallet created with a new phrase.
  6. 6Report the site to your wallet provider and, in the U.S., to the FBI's IC3 at ic3.gov.
