What happened

On October 15, 2026, the Central Bank of Ireland issued a warning about 'Marilla Capital ICAV (CLONE)', which it lists as an unauthorised investment firm, unauthorised investment business firm and unauthorised Irish Collective Asset-management Vehicle (ICAV). The firm is not authorised to provide investment services in Ireland.

The warning lists the website https://marillacapitalicav.com/, the email address info@marillacapitalicav.com and the phone number +44 203 925 8862 as used by the scam entity.

The Central Bank says the firm cloned the details (name and Central Bank authorisation details) of a legitimate Central Bank-authorised ICAV to add an air of legitimacy to the scam, and stresses that there is no connection whatsoever between the authorised fund and the scam entity. The genuine fund is being impersonated.

How the scam works

A clone firm copies a real, regulated firm's name and registration details. Someone who checks the register finds a matching, authorised name and assumes the offer is genuine, but the website, email and phone number they are dealing with belong to the scammers.

The Central Bank's notice does not describe how investors were approached; it lists the contact details used. That is why checking the contact details, not just the name, matters.
