What happened

In a press release dated 29 October 2026, Italy's securities regulator Consob said it has ordered the blocking of the website "Cardinemodevo" (cardinemodevo.it), one of eight new websites through which unauthorised crypto-asset services were being provided to Italian investors. Consob used the powers introduced by the EU MiCAR framework (Regulation (EU) 2023/1114 and Legislative Decree No. 129/2024) to take down the sites. The other seven sites blocked in the same order are solvexpulse53ai.it, valutixitalia.it, dashaxid400.it, sovriapro.it, chainexelonfin.it, smartbitboost.it, tesorvenza.it. Consob said Italian internet service providers are in the process of blocking the sites, which may take a few days.

How the scam works

The order itself, Consob resolution no. 24188 of 28 October 2026, sets out what the regulator found. The eight sites were active, were available only in Italian and held out the prospect of high returns, including through unspecified quantum and/or artificial-intelligence tools. To obtain those returns, users were invited to open a trading account on the site and trade crypto-assets. Consob could not trace the activity to any fully identifiable person, and found that the sites were not attributable to any provider authorised to offer crypto-asset services to the Italian public. All eight use ".it" domains, which Consob took as aimed at Italian users, and it ordered the violation of Article 59 of MiCAR to stop.

That description matches a typical fake trading platform: an account that shows large paper gains created by supposed trading software, followed by difficulty in withdrawing and demands for further payments. Consob's release does not say that these sites took money from any named victim or how much, and the sites are named as unauthorised, not individually convicted of fraud. Its release adds that the total number of sites blocked since July 2019 now stands at 1,861, of which 250 relate to crypto-assets, and it urges savers to check whether anyone offering investment services or crypto-assets is authorised and to beware of cloned websites, fake profiles of public figures and AI-generated content.
