What happened

In a post on X on 17 October 2026, the crypto commentator 大方 BigFang (@dafangbigfang) warned that a fake YouTube channel created only two days earlier is impersonating him. He says the channel, named "大方 BigFang Investments" with the handle DafangCryptoAnalysis, has stolen his profile picture and name and re-uploaded his videos. It has also been replying to viewers in the comment sections of his own videos while pretending to be him, so people believe it is his official account.

He says the account has absolutely no connection to him and is not authorised by him. His screenshots, marked "scam" and "fake", show the impersonating channel's page and its replies under his videos. He lists his only official accounts as youtube.com/@dafang, @dafangbigfang on X and t.me/bigfangfang on Telegram.

How the scam works

Impersonators of crypto creators copy a real creator's name, photo and videos so that a new channel looks familiar at a glance. The decisive step is in the comments: replying under the real creator's videos puts the fake account in front of his genuine audience, where viewers who want advice or a reply from the creator are most likely to engage with it.

BigFang says he will never contact anyone privately to ask for money, promote investment schemes, request a seed phrase or private keys, or invite people into private trading groups. Those are the requests to expect from the impersonator. He notes that scammers can copy his photos, videos and even his name, "but that doesn't make them me", and urges viewers to check the account handle before trusting anyone claiming to be BigFang.

He asks people to report the fake channel on YouTube, choosing "Impersonation" as the reason, and to share the warning so others are not fooled.

Red flags

  • A channel or account using BigFang's name and photo with a handle other than youtube.com/@dafang, @dafangbigfang or t.me/bigfangfang.
  • A newly created channel re-uploading a creator's videos.
  • Replies in a creator's comment section that invite you to message privately.
  • Any request for money, a seed phrase or private keys, or an invitation to a private trading group.

If you were targeted

  1. 1Check the exact handle before replying to anyone claiming to be BigFang.
  2. 2Never send money or share a seed phrase or private key with an account that contacts you.
  3. 3Report the channel to YouTube, choosing 'Impersonation' as the reason.
  4. 4If you sent crypto or shared wallet secrets, move remaining funds to a new wallet and report the loss to your local police or, in the U.S., the FBI's IC3 (ic3.gov).
