What happened
In a scam alert posted on X on October 13, 2026, Nigerian airline Air Peace said an individual has been consistently impersonating an Air Peace customer service agent, using the phone number 08082894680 on WhatsApp to defraud intending passengers.
Air Peace said the fraudster moved from an Opay account to a Paga account and now uses a microfinance bank account named "Air Peace".
How the scam works
Fake customer-service agents usually find travellers who are searching for help with a booking or reaching out on social media, then move the conversation to WhatsApp. They offer to book, change or confirm a ticket and ask for payment by bank transfer to an account they control. Naming the account "Air Peace" makes the transfer look official.
Air Peace says it does not ask for payment through personal or third-party accounts. Bookings and payments should be made only through its official website (flyairpeace.com), its mobile app, accredited travel agents and its sales outlets.

Red flags
- An airline "agent" contacting you on WhatsApp from a personal mobile number.
- Being asked to pay by bank transfer instead of through the airline's website or app.
- An account name that copies the airline's name at a bank or fintech the airline does not use for sales.
If you were targeted
- 1Book and pay only on flyairpeace.com, the Air Peace app, accredited travel agents or Air Peace sales outlets.
- 2If you paid, contact your bank immediately and ask it to try to recall the transfer.
- 3Report suspicious transactions to Air Peace's official customer service channels.
- 4Block and report the WhatsApp number.
