What happened
Mimikama warned in its WarnRadar on 30 October 2026 about WhatsApp messages that pose as a home-working job offer from the fashion retailer SHEIN. The German-language message tells recipients they are āqualifiedā for āSHEIN home-workingā and that a home-office employee is wanted. It promises flexible work from home at about 6 euros per task, 35 to 60 euros per hour and 200 to 500 euros per day, with no work experience required, a smartphone being enough, and no age or gender restriction. Recipients are offered a bonus of 10 euros after a one-minute test. SHEIN has no involvement in the message.
How the scam works
The message asks recipients not to contact the sending number directly but to click a button to apply. The link in Mimikama's example points to squarespaceshop.com, an external site rather than anything run by SHEIN. Mimikama says the aim is to lure people to that external page and probably to harvest their data there; it did not report exactly what the page requests. Offers of this kind, delivered unprompted over WhatsApp to a mass audience, usually move on to collect personal details or push victims into paying money or completing ātasksā.
Mimikama lists these reasons the message is fake: unusually high pay for simple home work, pressure from an apparently instant 10 euro bonus, the instruction not to contact the sender, the external link to squarespaceshop.com instead of SHEIN, the impersonal mass wording with unclear job details, and no link to an official SHEIN careers page. Its advice is not to click the link, not to enter personal or account data, to check vacancies only on SHEIN's official website, to block the number and report the message in the app, and to delete it if it cannot be verified.
