What happened
The UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) updated its clone-firm warning about 'Arbion Assets / Arbion Assets Management' on 16 October 2026; the warning was first published on 24 April 2026. The FCA says the firm is not authorised but has been contacting people pretending to be an FCA-authorised firm, which it calls a clone firm.
According to the FCA, the fraudsters are using the websites https://arbionassets.com/ and https://arbionassetsmanagement.com/, the UK mobile number +447351881747 and two email addresses. The genuine firm they claim to work for is ARBION LIMITED (Firm Reference Number 513138), based at 1 Connaught Place, London, with the website www.arbion.com. The FCA states that the genuine firm has no connection with the clone firm; Arbion Limited is being impersonated and is not involved.
How the scam works
A clone firm copies the name and sometimes the registration details of a real, FCA-authorised business so that people who check the FCA Register believe they are dealing with a regulated firm. The FCA says scammers may give out other false details, including email addresses, telephone numbers, postal addresses and Firm Reference Numbers, may mix these with the genuine firm's details, and may change their contact details over time.
Because the clone is not authorised, anyone who deals with it has no access to the Financial Ombudsman Service and no protection from the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) if things go wrong. If you sent money to a fraudster on or after 7 October 2024, the FCA says you may be covered by reimbursement protections introduced by the Payment Systems Regulator.
The FCA advises that if you're contacted unexpectedly by a financial business, you reply only using the contact details shown on its Firm Checker, not those given by the caller or in an email.
Note: the FCA warning does not describe how this clone approached people; this section reflects the FCA's general guidance on clone firms.
