What happened
On 26 October 2026 the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) added 'BITRUMARKET' to its Warning List, saying the firm is not authorised by the FCA, may be providing or promoting financial services or products without permission, and may be targeting people in the UK. The FCA lists its website as www.bitrumarket.icu and its email as support@bitrumarket.icu, and gives addresses at 1 Canada Square, Canary Wharf, London E14 5AB and Mainzer Landstrasse 50, Frankfurt 60325. The FCA notes that firms may give incorrect contact details, including details belonging to another business. It warns that people who deal with an unauthorised firm will not have access to the Financial Ombudsman Service or be protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) if things go wrong.
How the scam works
The FCA's Warning List entry is a regulatory notice, not a description of one scheme. It says BITRUMARKET may be providing or promoting financial services or products without the FCA's permission, and that people should avoid dealing with it and beware of scams. It doesn't say how the firm approaches people or whether anyone has lost money.
The practical risk is what the FCA says follows from dealing with an unauthorised firm: no access to the Financial Ombudsman Service if you want to complain, and no protection from the Financial Services Compensation Scheme if the firm goes out of business. The FCA adds that unauthorised firms may give contact details that belong to another business so the information looks genuine, and that they change their details over time.
It recommends using the FCA Firm Checker, replying to unexpected financial contacts only through the details listed there, and, if you sent money to a fraudster on or after 7 October 2024, checking whether Payment Systems Regulator protections apply. To report an approach, the FCA gives its consumer line, 0800 111 6768.
