What happened

On 28 October 2026 the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) published a warning that Assets Explore is an unauthorised firm that may be providing or promoting financial services without permission. The FCA lists the website www.assetsexplore.net and an address given as Gladesmore Road, London N15 6TB. The FCA says the firm is not authorised or registered by it, advises consumers not to deal with it and points out that no Financial Ombudsman Service or FSCS protection would apply. The address is as listed by the FCA, which warns that such details may belong to someone else.

How the scam works

The FCA's warnings are brief: they name the firm, give its listed contact details and say it is not authorised. They add that anyone dealing with such a firm would have no access to the Financial Ombudsman Service or the Financial Services Compensation Scheme if something went wrong. The FCA also says unauthorised firms often give incorrect contact details, including details that belong to other businesses or people, so that the information looks genuine. This write-up therefore describes the general pattern of such firms and not facts about Assets Explore beyond what the FCA states.

Unauthorised investment or savings firms typically reach consumers through online adverts, social-media messages, comparison-style websites or unsolicited calls. They promise attractive returns on trading, crypto or "savings plans", ask for a small first payment and show growing profits on a dashboard. Representatives then press for bigger deposits. When the customer tries to withdraw money, there are delays and new demands for fees, taxes or verification payments.

The FCA Register shows whether a firm is authorised and gives its genuine contact details. A firm that is not on it for the activity being offered should not be trusted with money, however professional its website looks.

Red flags

  • The firm is not authorised or registered by the FCA.
  • Contact details that look borrowed or cannot be verified on the FCA Register.
  • Promised returns that look too good for the risk.
  • Pressure to deposit quickly or to keep adding money.
  • Withdrawals blocked or delayed by new fees or taxes.

If you were targeted

  1. 1Check the firm on the FCA Register and its warning list before paying.
  2. 2Use the contact details on the FCA Register, not those the firm gives you.
  3. 3Stop paying and keep all evidence if withdrawals are blocked.
  4. 4Report the firm to the FCA (0800 111 6768) and to Action Fraud.
  5. 5Tell your bank straight away; card payments may be disputed.
