What happened

On 3 November 2026 the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) added Equity Plus Options, also given as equityplusoptions.com, to its Warning List of unauthorised firms. The FCA says the firm is not authorised by it and may be targeting people in the UK. It says the firm may be providing or promoting financial services or products without its permission and tells the public to avoid dealing with it and to beware of scams.

How the scam works

The FCA's entry lists these contact details for the firm: the website https://equityplusoptions.com, the telephone number +447345960065, an email address and an address on Preston Road, Brighton, England, BN1 6AF. It gives an alternative name, “Equity Plus Option”. The FCA warns that firms like this may give incorrect contact details, may change them over time, and may use details that belong to another business or person so the information looks genuine. The warning does not say how the firm contacts people, what it offers or how many people have been affected.

The FCA's explanation of the risk is that anyone who deals with an unauthorised firm will not have access to the Financial Ombudsman Service if they want to complain. They would also not be protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme if things go wrong, so it is unlikely they would get their money back if the firm went out of business. For payments sent to a fraudster on or after 7 October 2024, the FCA notes that the Payment Systems Regulator's protections may apply.

The FCA tells people to deal only with firms it authorises and to check them on the FCA Firm Checker, replying only on the contact details listed there. It asks anyone who thinks they have been approached by an unauthorised firm to call 0800 111 6768 or use its contact form. An FCA listing is a warning about authorisation, not a finding that the firm has taken anyone's money.
