What happened
On 29 October 2026 the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) published a warning that www.hedgemarksecuritiesllc.com is an unauthorised firm that may be providing or promoting financial services or products without permission and may be targeting people in the UK. The FCA lists the website, the email address info@hedgemarksecuritiesllc.com, the telephone number +16314988331 and an address the firm gives on Park Avenue, New York, NY 10022.
How the scam works
The FCA's warning page is short and does not describe how the firm approaches people or whether any consumers have lost money. It does set out the standard risks of dealing with an unauthorised firm. Complaints could not go to the Financial Ombudsman Service, and the Financial Services Compensation Scheme would not protect customers if things go wrong, so it is unlikely they would get money back. The FCA also warns that unauthorised firms may give incorrect contact details, such as postal addresses, telephone numbers and email addresses, may change them over time, and may even use details that belong to another business or person so that the information looks genuine. The Park Avenue address and the US telephone number therefore should not be taken as proof of where the firm is based.
The usual route for such firms is an online advert, a cold call or a social-media message offering trading or investment services. The FCA's advice is to deal only with firms that are authorised, to check them on the FCA Firm Checker, and to use only contact details listed there. People who sent money after 7 October 2024 may be covered by the Payment Systems Regulator's reimbursement protections if they were tricked into paying a scam account.
