What happened

The UK Financial Conduct Authority published a warning on 16 October 2026 that Valora Financial Bank may be providing or promoting financial services or products without FCA permission and may be targeting people in the UK. The FCA says the firm is not authorised and advises people to avoid dealing with it and to beware of scams.

The warning lists the website https://valorafinancialbank.com/ and the telephone number 7348204490, along with a claimed address at 15 Mayfair Place, London. A name that includes the word "Bank" is no evidence of authorisation, and the FCA cautions that such contact details may be incorrect or may belong to another business or individual.

How the scam works

The FCA says almost all firms and individuals must be authorised or registered by it to carry out or promote financial services in the UK. If you deal with an unauthorised firm you won't have access to the Financial Ombudsman Service if you want to complain, and you won't be protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) if things go wrong, so it is unlikely you would get your money back.

The FCA warns that firms like this may give incorrect contact details, including postal addresses, telephone numbers and email addresses, may change them over time, and may give details that belong to another business or individual so the information looks genuine. A prestigious-sounding address is therefore no evidence that a firm is real or regulated.

If you sent money to a fraudster on or after 7 October 2024, the FCA says you may be covered by reimbursement protections introduced by the Payment Systems Regulator. If you're contacted unexpectedly by a financial business, it advises replying only through the contact details on its Firm Checker.

Note: the FCA warning does not describe how this firm approached people; this section reflects the FCA's general guidance.
