What happened
On 23 October 2026 the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) added equifid-sa.com to its warning list of companies and individuals that may be carrying out unauthorised financial services and are not supervised by FINMA. FINMA lists the website https://equifid-sa.com with an address given as Lugano, not entered in the commercial register, and states that equifid-sa.com is not related to Equifid SA, Lugano, which is registered in the Swiss Commercial Register (CHE-114.057.840).
What the warning means
FINMA's warning list includes companies and individuals that may be providing services requiring its authorisation without being supervised by it. An entry is a warning, not a court decision. This entry concerns a lookalike domain: equifid-sa.com closely resembles the name of a real, registered Swiss company, Equifid SA in Lugano, and adds 'SA' to the web address so that it looks like that company's official site. FINMA says the website is not related to Equifid SA, which is registered in the Swiss commercial register, so the real company is not involved.
Lookalike sites are often used to give fake investment, asset-management or trust offers a credible Swiss address and history. Investors may be shown documents, registration numbers and addresses that belong to the genuine company. Contact can come through ads, cold calls or messages, and the people behind such sites commonly ask for deposits or fees to accounts that have no link to the real firm. FINMA advises checking its list of authorised institutions and its warning list before doing business with a financial provider.
