What happened

On 30 October 2026 the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) added “ig-ipco.ch; ig-ipco.com” to its warning list. The list names companies and individuals that FINMA believes may be carrying out an activity that requires authorisation without having it. FINMA's entry gives the websites as www.ig-ipco.ch and www.ig-ipco.com, notes an address of Oberwil, and records that the entity is not entered in the Swiss commercial register. FINMA stresses in its remarks that these two websites are not related to IG IPCO AG of Oberwil, a company that is entered in the Swiss commercial register. IG IPCO AG is not involved in the sites.

How the scam works

The FINMA entry is short and does not describe how the websites approach people or what they offer. A warning-list entry of this kind is a signal that the operator is presenting itself as a financial service provider without the permission Swiss law requires. The pattern FINMA's warnings usually describe, and which the entry's remark about IG IPCO AG suggests, is a name that is deliberately close to that of a real, registered Swiss company so that a quick search of the commercial register seems to confirm the business exists. The reference to the registered firm is FINMA's way of telling the public that the real company has nothing to do with the sites.

That matters for anyone checking a Swiss provider: finding a company with a similar name in the commercial register does not prove that the website in front of you is run by it. The register entry belongs to the registered firm, and its website, address and contact details are what count. Sensible steps are to check whether a firm is authorised before handing over money or personal details, and to be wary of unsolicited offers, promised returns and requests for upfront payments. Anyone who has dealt with ig-ipco.ch or ig-ipco.com can report it to FINMA and to the police.

Red flags

  • A financial service offered on ig-ipco.ch or ig-ipco.com by an entity that is not entered in the Swiss commercial register.
  • A name that closely matches a genuine registered company (IG IPCO AG), which FINMA says is not connected.
  • Appearance on FINMA's warning list as an unauthorised provider.
  • A website or contact that proposes investments or payments before you have verified the firm.
  • Unsolicited contact from a provider you did not seek out.

If you were targeted

  1. 1Do not send money or personal details to ig-ipco.ch or ig-ipco.com.
  2. 2Check whether a provider is authorised on FINMA's website and look up the firm's real details yourself, not through links it sends.
  3. 3Do not assume a company entered in the commercial register runs a website with a similar name; FINMA says IG IPCO AG is not related.
  4. 4If you already paid or shared documents, contact your bank and report to FINMA and the police.
  5. 5Use FINMA's warning list to check other names before dealing with them.
