What happened

On 27 October 2026 the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) added "METROPLUS TRADING / metroplustradings.com" to its warning list of companies and individuals that may be carrying out activities requiring authorisation without being authorised by FINMA. The entry gives the website as www.metroplustradings.com and an address of Grosspeteranlage 29, 4052 Basel. It records that the entity is not entered in the Swiss commercial register. No domicile is given. FINMA's listing does not describe what the operator offered or how victims were approached, and it does not say anyone has lost money.

How the scam works

FINMA's warning list names operators that appear to offer financial services in or from Switzerland without the required licence. A listing is a regulatory alert, not a court finding, but it means FINMA has reason to think the firm may be operating without permission. A company that claims to be a trading platform should be found among FINMA's authorised institutions or be exempt from authorisation, and a Swiss address on a website is not proof of either.

Online trading scams often follow a pattern that fits this kind of listing: a website with professional design, a Swiss or European address that is not backed by a commercial register entry, and a push to deposit money by bank transfer or crypto to start trading. Early statements show gains; later, withdrawals are blocked by demands for fees or taxes. FINMA's entry does not claim this specific sequence happened here, so treat it as a general warning pattern.

If you have dealt with the operator, FINMA's warnings page and its "making a report" page explain how to protect yourself and how to report. Check the commercial register entry (Zefix) and FINMA's lists of authorised institutions before sending money to any provider claiming a Swiss base.

Red flags

  • A trading or investment website with a Swiss address but no commercial register entry.
  • The firm does not appear among FINMA's authorised institutions.
  • A professional website that gives little detail about who runs it.
  • Pressure to deposit money by bank transfer or crypto to begin trading.
  • Use of a name or address that you can't verify independently.

If you were targeted

  1. 1Don't send money to metroplustradings.com or deal with its operators.
  2. 2Check any Swiss provider on FINMA's lists of authorised institutions and in the commercial register (Zefix).
  3. 3If you have paid, contact your bank at once and ask whether the payment can be recalled; keep all records.
  4. 4Report the operator to FINMA through its 'making a report' page and to the police.
  5. 5Beware of later 'fund recovery' offers that ask for fees.
