What happened

On 29 October 2026 the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) added 'MFD Investment SA' to its warning list of companies and individuals that may be carrying out activities requiring authorisation without being authorised by FINMA. FINMA lists the website www.mfdinvestment.com and an address given as Zug, and notes that the entity is not entered in the commercial register. FINMA's remarks state that this entity is not related to the legitimate company MFD Investment Holdings SA, which is registered in the Swiss commercial register. FINMA gives the register number CHE-216.778.336 for that company.

How the scam works

FINMA's warning list names companies and individuals that may be carrying out activities that require authorisation without having it. An entry is a public caution. FINMA does not say in this one how mfdinvestment.com operates or whether anyone has lost money. Such sites usually look like established investment houses, quote a Zug address and invite visitors to open an account and deposit funds; the "SA" ending is a Swiss company form that anyone can type into a web page, so it proves nothing by itself.

FINMA's remark separates this entity from a company that is in the register and has a similar name. The practical test is whether an operator appears in the commercial register and in FINMA's list of authorised institutions, and whether the details you find independently match the website. A page with an address, an "SA" suffix and polished design but no register entry deserves caution.

Nothing in the entry suggests that MFD Investment Holdings SA has done anything wrong.

Red flags

  • An "SA" company name that is not in the Swiss commercial register.
  • An address given only as a canton (Zug), with no street or named person.
  • A professional-looking investment site with no verifiable licence.
  • Unsolicited offers or pressure to open an account and deposit funds.
  • Names so close to a real firm that they are easy to confuse.

If you were targeted

  1. 1Search the Swiss commercial register and FINMA's authorised-institutions list before dealing with a Swiss provider.
  2. 2Compare the website's details with those you find independently, not with the site's own contact page.
  3. 3Do not send money or documents to mfdinvestment.com.
  4. 4If you paid, tell your bank, keep records and report to the police and to FINMA.
  5. 5Be wary of anyone who promises to recover lost funds for a fee.
