What happened
Gogetop, a UK marketing consultancy, posted a scam alert on its official account on X on 27 October 2026. The post says unauthorised recruiters are using the Gogetop name to promote suspicious job offers. Gogetop states that it is not affiliated with gogetopinc.com or with the recruiters using its name. It tells people not to send money or personal details, and gives its official website as gogetop.com. The post is short and does not say how many people were contacted, where the offers were advertised, or what the recruiters asked for. Nobody is named beyond the domain. This report rests on Gogetop's own statement and has not been independently verified.
How the scam works
Because the alert gives few details, this section describes the general pattern of fake-recruiter schemes rather than anything Gogetop has confirmed about this one. Scammers copy a real company's name, logo and wording, then advertise jobs or message candidates on social media, messaging apps or job boards. The roles are often remote, well paid and easy to get, with no real interview. Applicants are then asked for personal details such as ID copies and bank information, or to pay for equipment, training, background checks or "registration". Some versions send a cheque or ask the person to move money, which can make them a money mule.
The source of the warning matters. Gogetop says the recruiters are unauthorised and that the website gogetopinc.com is not its own. The genuine company is the impersonated party and is not accused of anything. Anyone who has been contacted should compare the offer with the careers information on the official site gogetop.com, not with details supplied by the recruiter.

Red flags
- A job offer that uses a real company's name but points to a different website (here gogetopinc.com).
- A role offered with no interview or only a brief chat on a messaging app.
- Requests for money or personal documents before you start work.
- Contact from a recruiter who can't be matched to the company's official careers page.
- Unusually high pay for simple tasks.
If you were targeted
- 1Don't send money, ID documents or bank details to anyone offering a job through gogetopinc.com or similar addresses.
- 2Check any offer against the company's official website (Gogetop says it is gogetop.com) and contact the company using details from there.
- 3Never pay fees for equipment, training or background checks.
- 4If you've shared personal documents, watch your accounts and consider a credit freeze or fraud alert.
- 5Report the recruiter's profile or ad to the platform where you saw it.
