What happened
MalwareTips reports Grocerywins.com is a gift card scam: the page is titled "Kroger Gift Card Reward" and shows a big gift card headline with a claim button, but the named retailer does not run or approve the offer. Kroger is the brand being used as bait, not a party to the offer. MalwareTips found the claim button opens a tracking link on trksy.org, an affiliate network domain, rather than the store's website. This is MalwareTips' assessment; we have not tested the page ourselves.
How the scam works
The offer follows a standard reward-funnel script. A text, email or social-media ad says you have been "selected" for a large gift card from a famous store. The landing page shows numbered steps, a bright claim button, and often countdown timers or "only a few cards left" banners that cannot be checked. The button goes through a tracking link that records the operator's affiliate ID and the offer clicked, which means the visitor is sold on as a lead from the first click. MalwareTips says the next steps ask for an email address, then name, phone number, home address and date of birth, sometimes with an income or shopping survey. Pre-ticked boxes can pass the details to dozens of "marketing partners".
Unlocking the card supposedly requires completing sponsored deals, such as free trials, streaming plans, insurance quotes, credit applications or mobile games played to a set level. Many need a payment card, and an uncancelled trial can turn into a full-price subscription, while a credit application can leave a hard inquiry. A few deals in, MalwareTips says, the excuses start: a deal "didn't track" or the claim is "pending review". The operator is paid for each sign-up, and the card never arrives.
