What happened

In a post on X on October 13, 2026, the phishing-tracking service PhishStats reported a new phishing URL at hmelef.ru/fits.html. It listed the hosting IP address as 188.246.224.242 in Russia, on the network of SELECTEL JSC (ASN AS49505), and linked to a PhishStats entry for the indicator.

The post did not say which brand or service the page imitated.

How the scam works

Phishing pages like this are usually reached through links in emails, texts or ads. They copy a login or payment page so that whatever you type, such as a password, card number or one-time code, goes to the attacker.

Automated feeds like PhishStats publish such URLs quickly so browsers, email filters and security teams can block them. Pages often stay up only briefly before moving to a new address.

Red flags

  • A link that takes you to an unfamiliar domain (here a .ru address) before asking you to log in or pay.
  • A page path like "/fits.html" that has nothing to do with the company it claims to be.
  • Urgent messages pushing you to sign in to fix a problem.

If you were targeted

  1. 1Do not enter a password, card number or one-time code on the page.
  2. 2If you already did, change that password right away (and anywhere you reused it), turn on two-step verification, and call your bank or card issuer if you entered payment details.
  3. 3Go to the real service by typing its address yourself or using its official app, not by following a link.
  4. 4Report the message to the impersonated company and to your national fraud or cybercrime reporting service.
