What happened

On 29 October 2026 the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) added https://www.clsmanagement.com/ to its Alert List as a suspicious website. The SFC states that the website is not associated with CL Strategic Management Limited, an SFC-licensed corporation, which is an SFC-licensed corporation. The SFC notes that suspicious website operators often use names similar to legitimate companies to confuse investors, and that dubious websites may offer too-good-to-be-true investment opportunities.

How the scam works

The SFC Alert List names suspicious websites and unlicensed activity so that investors can avoid them. The entry for clsmanagement.com is brief and does not say how people are approached, what the site offers or whether anyone has lost money. The SFC's remark is narrow but important: the website is not associated with CL Strategic Management Limited, which is a licensed corporation. A web address made of initials and the word "management" can easily be taken for a licensed asset manager, so a reader who sees a licence claim should verify it directly rather than trust the site.

The SFC's general advice on suspicious websites applies. Their operators often use names similar to legitimate companies to confuse investors, and dubious websites may offer too-good-to-be-true investment opportunities, such as pre-IPO shares at huge discounts or funds with guaranteed returns that do not exist. Some are fraudulent copycat websites imitating reputable financial institutions to get people to part with money or disclose personal information. The SFC says not to respond to investment website offers unless you are sure of the legitimacy of the entity. Licensed firms and their registered details can be checked on the SFC's public register.

Nothing in the entry suggests that CL Strategic Management Limited has done anything wrong.
