What happened
On 27 October 2026 the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong (SFC) added the website https://gbacm.com to its Alert List of suspicious websites. The SFC says the website is not associated with GBA Capital Management Limited, which is an SFC-licensed corporation. GBA Capital Management Limited is not involved with the site and is not accused of anything. The SFC adds that suspicious website operators often use names similar to legitimate companies to confuse investors. The listing gives no address and does not describe the investments offered or how investors were approached. It is an alert about the website, not a finding about any named person.
How the scam works
The SFC's Alert List flags websites that may deceive investors. The commission explains that dubious websites may offer too-good-to-be-true investments, such as pre-IPO shares in fabricated companies sold at a big discount or funds with guaranteed multiple returns, that do not actually exist. Others are copycat sites that imitate reputable financial institutions to lure investors into paying or disclosing personal information that fraudsters can later use.
The gbacm.com listing fits that general description, but the SFC's page does not say which of these methods the site used, so no particular scheme is claimed. The key point in the entry is the name: "gbacm" resembles the licensed firm's initials. A visitor who searches for the firm and sees a similar name could assume the site belongs to it. The SFC says it does not.
The SFC's advice is not to respond to investment website offers unless you are sure of the legitimacy of the entity. Before investing, check that the firm is licensed on the SFC's public register and use the contact details listed there.
