What happened
On 23 October 2026 Hong Kong's Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) added https://www.hkfuyip.com/ to its Alert List as a suspicious website. The SFC says the website is not associated with Fu Yip Securities and Investment Company Limited, an SFC-licensed corporation, and notes that suspicious website operators often use names similar to legitimate companies to confuse investors. The SFC warns that such websites may offer too-good-to-be-true investment opportunities or imitate reputable financial institutions to get investors to part with money or personal information.
What the warning means
The SFC lists 'suspicious websites' on its Alert List when it believes a site may be offering investments that don't exist or copying a real financial firm. In this case the address, hkfuyip.com, uses the name of a licensed broker, Fu Yip Securities and Investment Company Limited, with 'hk' added in front so it looks like the firm's Hong Kong site. The SFC says the website is not associated with the licensed firm, so the real firm is not involved.
The SFC says dubious websites may offer too-good-to-be-true investment opportunities that don't actually exist, such as pre-IPO shares of made-up companies at huge discounts or funds with guaranteed multiple returns. Others are copycat sites that imitate reputable financial institutions to get investors to send money or to disclose personal information that fraudsters can later use against them. The SFC advises not to respond to investment offers on websites unless you are sure the entity is legitimate. To reach a licensed firm, use the contact details on the SFC's Public Register of Licensed Persons and Registered Institutions. An Alert List entry is a regulatory warning, not a court finding.
