What happened
Hong Kong's Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) added the website https://www.ruihengtech.com to its Alert List of suspicious websites on 21 October 2026. The SFC says the website is not associated with Ruiheng Securities Limited, an SFC-licensed corporation. The SFC notes that suspicious website operators often use names similar to legitimate companies to confuse investors, and that such sites may offer too-good-to-be-true investment opportunities or imitate reputable financial institutions to get people to part with money or personal information.
What the warning means
The SFC's Alert List names unlicensed entities and suspicious websites that it believes may be targeting Hong Kong investors. In this case the website uses a name similar to that of a licensed corporation, which can lead people searching for the real firm to land on the wrong site. The SFC warns that suspicious websites and social media pages may promise unrealistic returns, imitate reputable financial institutions with copied logos, licence numbers and addresses, or ask visitors to register and transfer money to trading accounts that cannot be withdrawn from.
Fraudsters running such sites often contact people through social media, messaging apps or investment chat groups, show fake profits on a dashboard, and then demand fees or taxes before any withdrawal. The SFC says inclusion on the list does not mean the entity has been found to have broken the law, but investors should be cautious. Before investing, it advises checking the SFC's Public Register of Licensed Persons and Registered Institutions, and contacting a licensed firm only through the contact details shown on that register.
