What happened
On 5 November 2026 the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) added https://websdm.com to its alert list as a suspicious website. The SFC says the website falsely claims to be an approved share registrar. The alert lists an address at 21/F, Prudential Tower, The Gateway, Harbour City, 21 Canton Road, Kowloon, Hong Kong, and records the add date as 5 November 2026.
How the scam works
The SFC's alert list warns the public about entities and websites that may be targeting Hong Kong investors without proper authorisation or that make false claims about their status. According to the SFC, suspicious website operators often use names or descriptions similar to legitimate companies to confuse investors. Claiming to be an approved share registrar is a serious assertion in Hong Kong's market infrastructure; the SFC's point is that this website's claim is false.
Investors who deal with unlicensed or falsely described entities can lose money with little prospect of recovery through Hong Kong's investor-protection schemes that apply to regulated firms. The SFC advises checking its public register and alert list before dealing with any firm, and not to rely on a website address or a claimed office location alone. Anyone who has already dealt with the site should keep records and consider reporting the matter to the SFC and to Hong Kong Police. The alert is published by the SFC; scammers.com has summarised it and not independently verified the technical details of the site.
