What happened

The Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) added Imkan Trade, with the website https://www.imkantrade.com, to its alert list of suspicious entities on 3 November 2026. The SFC classifies it as an unlicensed entity and says in its remarks that the entity falsely claims to be an SFC-licensed corporation. The entry lists no address.

How the scam works

The SFC's alert is short. It records the name, the website and the remark that Imkan Trade falsely claims to be an SFC-licensed corporation, and it does not describe the products on offer, how the entity found customers or whether anyone has lost money. The commission's general note says unlicensed entities often adopt names similar to legitimate financial institutions to confuse investors, and may provide financial investment trading platforms on the internet. It warns that dealing with a company that is not licensed by the SFC means a person may not be protected by the regulatory framework the SFC enforces.

Online trading sites commonly show a licence claim, a registered-company number or a regulator's name to look credible. A visitor sees the claim, trusts the platform and then deposits money, often by bank transfer or cryptocurrency, which is hard to recover. The SFC says that the licence claim by Imkan Trade is false. It has not said that anyone has been defrauded, and its listing is a warning about licensing and not a ruling by a court.

The SFC's advice is to deal only with licensed entities and to hang up on cold callers. Licensing can be checked on the SFC's Public Register of Licensed Persons and Registered Institutions. A claim made on a company's own website or by a salesperson is not a substitute for that check, and the name of a site that looks like a known brand is no guide to who runs it.
