What happened
On October 14, 2026, the official Jet2 account on X (@jet2tweets) replied to a customer who had been contacted by @Jet2tweets__h, saying it was a fake account not affiliated with Jet2holidays.
Jet2 said its only official account is @jet2tweets, marked with a gold tick, and urged people to be vigilant when dealing with such accounts.
How the scam works
Fake airline and holiday-company accounts often watch for customers who post complaints or questions publicly, then reply or message them pretending to be customer service. A handle that looks almost the same as the real one, here with extra characters ("__h"), makes the reply look official.
Such accounts typically try to move the conversation to direct messages or another app and ask for booking references, personal details, card details or a payment to fix a problem or issue a refund.
Note: this report is based on a short public post on X. This section describes how this type of scam generally operates; it does not add details about this specific account beyond what Jet2 said.
