What happened

MalwareTips published an investigation on 6 November 2026 advising readers not to buy through handmadebyveteran.com. The store wraps shirts and other clothing in flags, military references and America's 250th anniversary branding, and its homepage describes a small team of veterans and an exclusive anniversary collection. Its separate shipping policy, however, says most shipments begin overseas and products are primarily sourced there.

How the scam works

According to MalwareTips, the store's terms name a Hong Kong operator, YUNSTAR NETWORK TECHNOLOGY Co., LIMITED, and select Hong Kong law, while a BBB Scam Tracker entry labels the domain with a different company, Keystone Path Industries Co, LTD. The About page offers a broad lifestyle story rather than named founders, a workshop or veterans making the garments. MalwareTips says this is not proof that no veteran works there, but that it does not establish American handmade production, and that buying a patriotic design is not automatically a donation.

The FAQ says cancelling after an order is placed carries a 30% fee, even immediately, and other wording says orders are locked once they enter the system. The return information gives three different time references: 45 days, a separate 14-day provision and a 30-day FAQ window. The return address is only supplied on request, which makes the cost of sending clothing back hard to judge before paying.

Customer accounts are mixed. A BBB Scam Tracker report dated 17 July 2026 describes a $39.47 shirt bought through PayPal whose tracking first suggested Italy and then China, and alleges misleading origin claims. Trustpilot reviewers describe a parcel allegedly delivered to a different town, small sizing and surprise at overseas shipping, while others praise the shirts and say they arrived. MalwareTips stresses these are individual accounts and that the concerns come mainly from the store's own published policies.
