What happened
On 5 November 2026 MalwareTips published a warning about hobby-500-claim.lovable.app, a page offering a $500 Hobby Lobby gift card. The page title reads Hobby Lobby | $500 Gift Card Reward, and it is hosted on a free Lovable subdomain rather than on Hobby Lobby's own site. MalwareTips describes it as a lead-generation scam: the claim button does not go to Hobby Lobby but opens an affiliate network tracking link on linkthem.net.
How the scam works
According to MalwareTips, the page uses the Hobby Lobby name and a large reward to collect personal data and push visitors into paid offers. After the initial claim, later pages ask for the visitor's name, phone number, home address and date of birth, and a survey about income and shopping habits often follows. The site then says the card is unlocked by working through sponsored deals, such as free trials, streaming plans, insurance quotes, credit applications or mobile games played to a set level.
MalwareTips warns that this is where the cost appears. A free trial that is not cancelled can turn into a full-price subscription, and a credit application can leave a hard inquiry on the visitor's credit file, while the promised gift card typically never arrives. The operators earn affiliate commissions from the trials and sign-ups regardless of whether anyone receives a reward. Hobby Lobby is the spoofed retailer in this report, not the accused operator, and linkthem.net is described only as the affiliate tracking path. MalwareTips advises people to leave the page, avoid entering any details, and check offers on the retailer's official site. These are MalwareTips' findings and have not been verified by scammers.com.
