What happened
MalwareTips published an investigation on 7 November 2026 calling tgredrewards.com a gift card scam. It found the page title reads Get a $750 Target Gift Card, that its claim button opens a tracking link on trksy.org, an affiliate network domain, rather than the retailer's website, and that the same affiliate ID appears on sogifter.com, a gift card page MalwareTips has already exposed. Target is impersonated and does not run or approve the offer.
How the scam works
According to MalwareTips, reward funnels like this collect an email address, phone number, home address and date of birth, presented as the details needed to send the card. The visitor is then told to complete a number of sponsored deals, such as paid trials, subscriptions, app installs or credit applications, before the reward is released. The card is never delivered.
Each completed deal earns a commission for whoever controls the affiliate ID, which is why the same ID appearing on another exposed gift card page matters: it suggests the same operator is behind several lookalike reward sites. Meanwhile, the visitor's personal details can be sold or used for spam calls, texts and further scams, and free trials often turn into recurring charges if they are not cancelled. A generous, round-number card from a major retailer is the hook that makes people tolerate an unusually long list of steps.
MalwareTips advises not entering details or completing deals. Anyone who already did should cancel any trials or subscriptions they signed up for, check card statements for recurring charges, and watch for follow-up spam or phishing that uses the information they gave. Genuine Target gift cards are sold and promoted through Target itself.
