What happened
In a media release dated 16 October 2026, OCBC Bank (Hong Kong) Limited alerted customers and the public to a fraudulent website at hxxps[:]//carousell[.]shop-pay[.]lat/merchant/bank-confirm/ocbc/420381613. OCBC Hong Kong says it has no connection with the website and that its official website is www.ocbc.com.hk. OCBC Hong Kong is being impersonated and is not involved.
The bank says it has reported the matter to the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and the Hong Kong Police Force.
How the scam works
The address combines the name of the marketplace Carousell with a "shop-pay" domain and a "merchant/bank-confirm/ocbc" path, so a link can look like part of a marketplace checkout that asks the user to confirm a payment with their bank. The domain is not Carousell's or OCBC's; neither is involved.
Note: OCBC's release does not describe what the page asks for or how links were spread; this section describes what the URL itself shows.
OCBC Hong Kong urges anyone concerned that they may have disclosed personal information, or who received requests for information on the fraudulent website, to call its customer service hotline on (852) 3199 9188 and to report to the Hong Kong Police Force immediately for investigation.
