What happened
On October 14, 2026, autonomous-driving company Pony AI Inc. published a statement saying fraudulent websites and Telegram accounts are using the Pony.ai name, official images, video footage and company information without authorisation. Some of the websites use domain names containing "aiponyhk".
Pony.ai says these websites, accounts and investment offers are fraudulent and are not operated, endorsed or authorised by the company. It has reported the matter to the police and relevant regulators and says it will pursue all available legal remedies. Pony.ai's name was misused; the company is not involved.
How the scam works
The operators set up purported "investment bots" and "customer service" accounts on Telegram that falsely claim to offer investment opportunities connected with Pony.ai. They promise high returns and ask people to transfer Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies.
Pony.ai states that it does not offer investment or wealth-management products, does not solicit funds from the public, does not conduct cryptocurrency transactions, has not authorised anyone to raise funds on its behalf, and does not contact users for commercial purposes through Telegram.
Its official channels are www.pony.ai and its LinkedIn and X (@PonyAI_tech) accounts.
