What happened
MBC Radio reported on October 14, 2026 that Saskatchewan RCMP warned the public about an email scam circulating in the province. The emails claim to be from the RCMP and say the recipient is the subject of a cybercrime investigation. The RCMP was impersonated.
The emails threaten that the recipient will be arrested unless they contact the "investigators" at carcmpgrca@gmail.com. The RCMP says the email is a scam and the address does not reach the RCMP.
How the scam works
Police-impersonation emails use fear of arrest to push people into replying quickly. Once contact is made, scammers typically ask for personal information, money or gift cards to "resolve" the matter.
Real police do not ask people to contact them through a Gmail address.
