What happened
According to DaveFinances, citing a warning by Spain's securities regulator, the CNMV (Comisión Nacional del Mercado de Valores), the CNMV on 3 November 2026 identified the website monex-markets.com, using the trading name MONEX MARKETS, as an unauthorised clone. DaveFinances reported it in a roundup of the same day that also covered a separate CNMV warning about websites resembling VT Markets.
How the scam works
As described by DaveFinances, the CNMV states that the operation has no relationship with Monex Europe Markets, S.V., S.A.U., a legitimate investment firm operating in Spain and registered with the CNMV under number 321. It says the website is not authorised to provide regulated investment services in Spain, including foreign-exchange transactions, and cannot provide crypto-asset services that need authorisation under the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA). DaveFinances notes that the warning does not name the people behind the site, say how long it has operated or show that any investors sent money to it.
A clone of a registered firm helps a site to look legitimate. A real registration number or company name belongs to the registered business, not to every website using a similar name. DaveFinances adds that the CNMV warned in May 2026 about a different site, monexmarket.cc, using the same MONEX MARKETS trading name, and that no connection between that site and monex-markets.com has been established. The reporter notes that the CNMV has not said the two sites belong to the same network, and that the published notices contain no shared ownership, technical or payment details.
The DaveFinances report also says there is nothing in the notices about customer complaints or losses. The safe check is to match the precise website and the legal entity against the CNMV's official registers and not to rely on any registration details shown on the site itself.
