What happened

The Registry of the Supreme Court of India issued a public notice dated 3 November 2026 (F.No. CC-32/S14/1/2023-CC) cautioning stakeholders against a newly identified fraudulent domain, scigovinjudicial.com. The notice says the domain is impersonating the official online presence of the Court. It follows earlier public notices dated 16 July 2025, 28 April 2026 and 13 August 2026 about deceptive websites designed to clone the Court's official site. The notice is signed by the Deputy Registrar (Computer Cell).

How the scam works

According to the notice, the cybercriminals behind the fake link may try to obtain sensitive personal data and confidential credentials from the public, and disclosing personal or financial information could let the perpetrators steal data. The notice does not describe how people are directed to the fake domain or what the page asks for, and it does not say how many people have been affected.

The notice states that the Supreme Court of India is the registered user of the domain sci.gov.in. It encourages users to check the authenticity of web addresses by hovering over a link before engaging with it. A fake court site can be used to send people notices or messages that appear to come from a court, for example about a case, a fine or a summons, and to ask for a login, an Aadhaar number, bank details or a payment. That use is typical of such sites generally but is not described in this notice.

The Registry advises anyone who suspects that they have been compromised by this phishing attempt to update the passwords for all their online accounts immediately and to notify their banks to report unauthorised access. The repeated notices in 2025 and 2026 indicate that these cloned sites keep appearing under new domain names, so a site that looks right is not proof that it is official. The notice does not identify the people behind the domain.
