What happened
Asia Daily reported that Thai police announced on October 13, 2026 the arrest of 39 suspects and the seizure or freezing of assets worth more than 500 million baht in Operation Anti-Scam Matrix, led by the Central Investigation Bureau and the Anti Cyber Scam Center. Searches covered 27 locations in 11 provinces.
Police describe ETO TH, and the associated website eto-th.com, as a fake stock trading platform. Investigators traced money through 13 corporate bank accounts linked to 74 cases with reported losses above 173 million baht. These are police allegations; the cases have not been decided in court.
How the scam works
Victims were drawn in by public Facebook ads promising high returns from stock investments presented as block trading. People who clicked were moved into Line chats and groups where accounts run by the alleged scammers posed as fellow investors. Victims were invited to Zoom trading lessons with a purported instructor who did not turn on a camera.
Victims registered a portfolio on eto-th.com and downloaded the ETO TH app, which showed balances and apparent profits. Police allege those displays simulated trading. When victims tried to withdraw, they were told to pay further fees; paying did not release their money, and more demands followed.
