Escrow instructions that require both parties’ approval are not optional when $864,000 hits a lawyer’s trust account. Status: Disbarred Nov. 27, 2024 (effective immediately; leave to reapply in 10 years). He had been emergency-suspended June 16, 2022 [1].

What the Bar News reports

According to The Florida Bar News [1]:

  1. Masud (admitted 1989) served as third-party escrow agent; $864,000 was wired to his trust account under an agreement allowing disbursement only with both parties’ approval.
  2. About two months later both companies jointly terminated the escrow and asked that funds return to the buyer—but Masud had already disbursed or transferred the entire amount within three days of receipt to recipients who were not parties to the escrow agreement.
