What happened
Germany's financial regulator BaFin warned on 19 October 2026 about offers on the website primefincompany.com. BaFin says it suspects the unknown operators are offering financial and securities services as well as crypto-asset services in Germany without authorisation. According to BaFin's findings, there is no connection with Prime Finance LTD, based in Harlow, England, and this is presumably a case of identity misuse; the real Prime Finance LTD is not involved. The warning is based on section 37(4) of the German Banking Act and section 10(7) of the Crypto Markets Supervision Act. BaFin reminds consumers that anyone offering these services in Germany needs its authorisation and that they can check firms in its company database.
What the warning means
BaFin is Germany's Federal Financial Supervisory Authority. Anyone offering financial and securities services, or crypto-asset services, in Germany needs its authorisation, and BaFin publishes consumer warnings when it suspects that a website is offering such services without it. BaFin's warnings refer to the operators as unknown: the warning concerns the website, not the genuine company whose name is used.
BaFin, the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) and the state criminal police offices warn about financial fraud on the internet. They advise consumers to be extremely careful when investing money online and to research thoroughly so they can recognise fraud attempts in time. BaFin's "Finanzbetrug erkennen" section lists current warnings about firms operating without authorisation and explains how to protect yourself from fraud on the financial market. A company's name, logo or register details appearing on a website is not proof that the company runs it; identity misuse means that real details are copied to make an unauthorised offer look trustworthy.
